Illegal supplements continuously sold in the market

Tyrone LaRose, a 42-year-old MBA student, tried to get serious with bodybuilding and wanted to gain weight fast. He bought a supplement called Tren last fall. Had he known the substance was an anabolic steroid, he would not have touched it.
LaRose gained the weight he was looking for, going from 285 lbs to 335 lbs. He took the pills for three consecutive months, lower than the recommended dose.
However, his eyes started to look almost cat green and his complexion started showing that something was terribly wrong with him. His father brought him to the emergency room where he was diagnosed as having severe jaundice. A biopsy revealed that he had severe jaundice.
LaRose is a part of the many cases who filed a lawsuit against American Cellular Labs.
Dr. Zeid Kayali, a liver transplant from Loma Linda University Medical Center saw the amount of liver damage in a cluster of patients who have a history of taking Tren. He was so alarmed that he reported it to US FDA.
In an interview, Senator Arlen Specter said, nutritional supplements are not subjected to pre-clearance. Therefore, if ever your see products and are not sure what is in it, do a research before buying and using the product.
From CBS News:
(CBS) Since the first CBS News story aired last March, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has begun to crack down on designer steroids like Tren, but as CBS News correspondent Kelly Cobiella reported on ”The Early Show,” they are still very available — and very dangerous.
