Global Test Market: Revisiting an Old Favorite
Uncategorized January 8th, 2009When I reviewed Global Test Market a year ago, I had only been a member for a couple of months but knew from its reputation that it was one of the best online paid survey sites out there. After more than a year with them, I can wholeheartedly recommend that you join this one if you haven’t done so already.
I’ve gotten at least 3 surveys a week since I’ve been with them. Sometimes I qualify and sometimes I don’t, but they will give you 5 points for you efforts in the event that you are disqualified. And although 5 points doesn’t seem like much, it does add up and it makes me feel better about myself
Global Test Market is a points for cash survey site, 1000 points = $50. My only complaint is the rather high $50 minimum for payout but it’s fairly easy to get there. I have cashed out 3 times (earning $150 this year) and am just a little short of cashing out again. Payment is by check and takes 6 to 8 weeks to process.
There has been lots of chatter about the recent problems experienced with delays in points posting to accounts. Apparently, they switched to a new server and the change over was a nightmare. But all appears well now, and the kinks have been worked out.
In my opinion, Global Test Market is one of the best all around online paid survey sites that you’ll find. For me it ranks up there with Survey Spot and Opinion Outpost.

GTM is a great site, but lately, their emails have been coming at 1:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. MST, and by the time i get to them, they say “quota filled” or such. As for the one survey i have done with them since they changed over to their new server(s) & format, it was VERY painstaking and “obnoxious.” Such as, “rank these next 11 items in order of your preference”,(oi vey) only to be followed by 5 more of this same type to be ranked later. Page after page of scrolling through this format is, well, obnoxious.
I only have one word for this format (other than obnoxious)…ANNOYING!
GTM, PLEASE!, go back to your previous format!
It was working fine.
Maybe you should try following one of my favorite axioms…”if it ain’t broke, DON’T FIX IT!”
Your new FORMAT stinks….at least so far.
And getting the surveys at 1:30 a.m. makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. (i guess we in the Mountain time zone are just s.o.l.?)

Let me try this again.
I love GlobalTestMarket surveys because they are my #4 best paid survey site on my Surveys That Pay! list. They are the second best cash for points site after OpinionOutpost (#2 - $181) and also behind the cash leader SurveySpot at #1 with $326 in 2008. #3 is TikTik Cash, a GPT (Get Paid to Try) offers site that I have recently cashed out and unsubscribed from ($100.06).
4. Global Test Market $154.00 (1000 points = $50) ($10 payout point) ($104.00 rec’d) ($50 req’d)
I like the 1000 point $50 payout point because they send about 3-4 surveys per week and most pay between 40 ($4) and 100 ($10) points. You also receive 50 points ($0.50) for simply attempting each survey. I have not found the surveys to be as long or as frustrating as completing OTX surveys, which I detest. I think most people will be able to cash out about three times per year for $150.

Thank you very much for these mailings, they are very helpful! I will check out Global Test Market.
If of interest, my experience with Survey Spot is that most surveys are for entry into sweepstakes and not many dollar surveys. And most of them I do not qualify for. So, it doesn’t seem to be worth my time at all. Am I missing something?
My experience with Opinion Outpost is that again, I don’t qualify very often. Is it my age? Is it my zip code?
On the other hand, I’ve found Vindale Research to be quite interesting! I’m new but have received my first $50 payment within the first month or two that I was enrolled. And I’m already up to $40 after just a couple weeks since my 1st payment. Granted, you have to pay enrollment fees so the $50 is offset by that. And you have to stay on top on your minimum day enrollment and free trial periods and follow up to cancel. So it is higher maintenance. But I’ve got a pretty good system down in managing that, and the money seems to be MUCH better than anything else I’ve seen to this point. But I’m new to the Survey industry just in the past few months.
Thanks again for your help!

January 9th, 2009 at 5:03 pm

those $50 r NOT easy 2 reach 4 me!!!
January 9th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
I know this is not the site but since ya mentioned it maplaver….I’ve gotten about 4-5 invites from survey spot daily for about a week. one was for 2 dollars, which i did not qualify for , go figure . the others were of course, sweepstakes, which i have qualified for 99% of the time. go figure again. My question is do you know about how long until they start sending paid surveys. It’s starting to get ridiculous. Thanks for any knowledge.
January 9th, 2009 at 5:49 pm
oh, one more thing, Maplaver, AMEN, to the comment about OTX. I’m sick and tired of being nervous and sweating. like brittany spears in the front pew at church, at hitting the continue button wondering when i’m going to get booted off.Anyone else reading this, don’t even act like you don’t feel the same way.Smart’en up and quite using them and they will either change or diminish. As Forrest Gump would say “OTX suxs’
January 10th, 2009 at 12:51 am
stan, just hang in there… that’s the advise the pros give… i NEVER did the sweeps surveys cuz i WONT waste my time like that… i just waited and after some months, it got better and NOW i LOVE SURVEY SPOT

January 10th, 2009 at 10:27 am
Thanks again, maplaver. Thats what i needed to hear. i didn’t know if i had to take all those sweepstakes surveys or not to finally get some paid ones. I’m going to do as you and just wait.
My bad, Not forrest gump , i meant rainman. So in all fairness. As rainman would say OTX sucks….99%.
January 10th, 2009 at 2:00 pm

I wanted to join Global Test Market since October 2007 but was unable since I deleted the confirmation email. At that time I did not know all the things I know now so I thought GTM was not that good….
I send them several emails last year about that problem about wasn’t really gettting a concrete answer on how to solve this dilema…
I was able to join the panel after I clicked on a paid memolink email…
So far I have only recevied one GTM survey that was hosted by OTX… I still have a few profiles to complete so that’s whats next…

I cannot complain about GlobalTestmarket because I just received my third $50 check in the past 11 months. I am also well on my way to the first $50 check of 2009!
4. Global Test Market $154.00 (1000 = $50) ($10 po) ($154.00 rec’d)

what’s ($10 po) ?
March 5th, 2009 at 4:03 am
I have to agree with the people who say that otx sucks.
Otx is the most anal research company in the world. For example, they ask questions that have nothing to do with the actual survey.
For example, otx might give you a survey about cell phones and ask you questions like do you drink alcohol or what type of tv reception at home and if you say that you don’t drink or you don’t get TV reception, they usually boot you off.

i totally agree w/ that eugene!!!
May 15th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
just got my 2nd check for $52.5 AWESOME!!!
May 16th, 2009 at 9:00 am
I’m waiting on my fifth check for $50 from GTM since February 2008.

2. Global Test Market $254.50 (1000 = $50) ($10 po) (2008-03-01) ($204.50 rec’d)
GTM is definately the best points site and you can earn a lot of money with them. The 1000 point $50 pay out point is reasonable because their incentives are good, I receive three to four surveys per week and qualify for most. You receive 5 points ($0.05) for attempting a survey. I am expecting another $50 check from them within the next week.

You receive 5 points ($0.50) just for attempting a survey. I am expecting another $50 check from them that will move them up on my list. If they had a PayPal option that would make them even better. I am also not very happy that GTM is now offering surveys via OTX due to the many problems cited for OTX, such as long screeners, being disqualified after giving a large amount of information and irrelevant surveys in general.

I love GTM! I have been a member for almost 2 years and have made a little over $300. Only complaint is their lack of customer service which seems to be outsourced to India.

I have not had much luck with Global yet, but still trying it out. I must say I just took the worst survey with them. My biggest pet peeve is they don’t tell you how long a survey is going to be. This one must have been almost an hour long, though it took me the better part of two days to complete it because I kept getting so sick of it that I’d quit and then come back to it. That’s the only reason I finished it. It was for 50 market points, which isn’t much since you have to get to 1,000. Anyway, the worst part about it was that the grammar and writing was absolutely HORRID! I had to re-read the questions over and over just to figure out what they were asking. Whoever wrote the questions obviously was not well versed in the English language at all. Some surveys have an occasional slip up or two, but this one had every question totally confused and messed up. And no comment at the end where I could mention the concern. anyway, just venting. At least most of their surveys aren’t that bad at all, but usually I just get disqualified quickly.
September 15th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
The number of points the survey is worth is indicative of the length of the survey. Very rarely have I spent as long as 50 minutes on a survey, but most are 20-30 minutes or longer.
November 1st, 2009 at 12:03 pm
Global Test Market has always been my favorite survey site, partly because they almost always offered 5 points (25¢) if you didn’t qualify for a survey. Now very few of their surveys offer this ‘consolation prize,’ and a substantial percentage of the surveys are now sweepstakes only.
I am afraid this is a trend. Clear Voice is not a popular survey site here, but I always liked it because they too offered 25¢ if you didn’t qualify, and I found that the quarters added up quickly. Now they only offer 10¢.
The only other site I can think of offhand that offers a ‘consolation prize’ is Say Nation, and they offer only 25 points, which adds up to about 2¢.
It’s the way of the world, and I am sure the survey business is hurting in this economy, but still it is disappointing.
November 2nd, 2009 at 2:28 pm
GTM is still my second best survey site after SurveySpot. I am about to unsubscribe from Clear Voice because they do not credit survey incentives accurately, never respond to emails and it took me almost one year to earn $10.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
I agree with you Lisa. I’m disappointed by the lack of 5-__ point surveys and the abundance of sweepstakes ones instead.
However, Ipsos i-say actually gives you a “consolation prize” for attempting their surveys. They give you 1 point for trying, even if you don’t qualify for the survey, which is $0.10. You’d be surprised how quickly those 1 pointers add up.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Thanks, Kristen. Ipsos has never sent a survey, don’t know why, but I’ll investigate.

Still receiving mostly sweepstake surveys from GTM at the moment. Been stuck on 700 points for a couple of weeks now….still it’s one of my favourites…
January 1st, 2010 at 12:55 pm
Getting very worried about GTM. This was one of my better paying survey sites but haven’t received any surveys from them for the last 10 days or so which is very unusual for them. It could be to do with the holidays i’m guessing. Still receive mostly sweepstakes when i do get invites from them though and they are mostly OTX surveys.
January 15th, 2010 at 12:39 pm
Things slowly starting to turn around for me with GlobalTestMarket. They have been sending out a few points surveys again to me lately. I think they are over their technical problems which happened over the holiday period.
January 29th, 2010 at 12:08 pm
I just received another check from GTM for $52.15!
January 29th, 2010 at 6:58 pm
Things still rather slow with GTM. I probably only qualify for 1 survey a week now.
January 31st, 2010 at 12:22 am
Surveys always slow up during January and February, probably even more so during a Recession.
January 31st, 2010 at 2:13 pm
If you believe what they are saying in the news right now the recession is over. I’m not sure they are right about that.
January 31st, 2010 at 6:30 pm
The peak of the Recession has passed. It will be another year before the Recession has ended.
February 5th, 2010 at 9:50 am
hi everyone
did you guys observe that when we are opening a survey from global test market , a new screen is coming and they are asking study number, user and password and secid. ever time i want to open a survey it is saying the password is wrong. i wrote about this problem to customer care also. but i got no reply.
really i am very sad that such a good survey site is getting worse.
did anyone else face the same thing.
February 5th, 2010 at 11:04 am
Yes i have been getting that for a long time when taking surveys with them. I usually go direct to the web site and open the surveys and that seems to fix this problem.
February 5th, 2010 at 11:48 am
ya i tried directly by visiting their website also but unfortunately , it is not opening that way also. again the same screen is coming.
